Scoliosis-Friendly Mat Pilates

Interested in trying Pilates, but unsure of how it will affect your spine? The Scoliosis Collective is now offering scoliosis-friendly mat pilates classes! 

Created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, Pilates offers plenty of benefits to your body, regardless of your fitness background.

At The Scoliosis Collective, the Pilates exercises, cues, and props are thoughtfully selected to follow scoliosis-specific physiotherapy principles based on the biomechanics of scoliosis.

The classes will provide a medium for building upon what you have learned through your Physio program, incorporating small Pilates equipment such as toning and stability balls, foam rollers, fitness circles, and therabands. You’ll improve your overall strength, posture, flexibility and get one heck of a core workout.

 

Virtually (currently pausing in-person classes during COVID times), times effective Sept 21, 2021:

Cost:

  • Single Virtual Class – $7.50
  • Virtual 10-Class Pack – $47.50

When:
– Tuesdays at 12:30pm – 1:30pm AEST

Scoliosis-Friendly Yoga

These classes incorporate scoliosis principles and language based on the Schroth Method into traditional yoga poses, and provide education to participants on how to modify movements so they can participate in community yoga classes.
